Scientific discussion with Dr. An Nguyen, Bournemouth University (United Kingdom)

On March 30, 2021, at the Library of Ton Duc Thang University, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities held a scientific discussion on “Infodemic” about the COVID-19 pandemic and how to handle itfrom the perspective of media and journalism.

The guest of the discussion is Dr. An Nguyen, currently an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Communication and Journalism, Bournemouth University in the UK (ranked #95 in the world by THE Young University Rankings). Dr. An Nguyen has published 4 books and over 40 research articles/chapters in various fields: Digital journalism, public media, science and health communication, data journalism, and development journalism. He is a member of the editorial board of seven international peer-reviewed journals. Before Bournemouth University, Dr. An is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Journalism at the University of Sussex (UK), University of Stirling (Scotland). He is the founder and director of the University of Stirling Master's Program in Media Management in Vietnam.

At the discussion, lecturers of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and Dr. An Nguyen exchanged information and research results from around the world on the topic: “ COVID-19 Infodemic and The Post-truth Society, One Year On”. The discussion clarified the causes of great social consequences due to the Infodemic about COVID-19 and how to prevent it from the media perspective.
