The 3rd Conference of Student Scientific Research – Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2022
Following the first and second "Student Scientific Research Conference" in 2020, 2021, the third "Student Scientific Research Conference" in 2022 was successfully organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH) at 13:00 on August 27, 2022 at Hall 10F Ton Duc Thang University.
As an event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Ton Duc Thang University and the establishment of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (1997-2022), the Conference also aims to launch and implement student scientific research activities.
Participating in the Conference were representatives of student Department, DEMASTED, Lecturers, alumni and more than 120 students.
After the opening speech of MSc. Pham Thi Ha Thuong, Acting Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, MSc. Hoang Thi Van, in charge of students' scientific research activities, has reported of student research activities in the 2021-2022 AY. She said that, despite the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the FSSH's student research activities have always been focused, maintained and implemented effectively, including 4 out of 9 projects won 1 second prize, 2 third prizes and 1 consolation prize at the University-level Assessment and Evaluation Council. These three projects that won the second and third prizes have been proposed to compete for the 24th Eureka Prize in 2022 organized by HCMC Youth Union.
In addition, in this school year, a group of Vietnamese students majoring in Tourism and Tourism Management (high quality) of FSSH - Nguyen Quynh Anh (project leader) under the guidance of Dr. Nguyen Minh Huan, won the First Prize in the final round of Eureka organized by HCMC Youth Union.
The program was followed by presentations of 03 research groups:
1. The project won the second prize by group of students: Nguyen Thi Phi Yen, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, under the guidance of Dr. Nguyen Thi Do Quyen;
2. The project won the third prize by group of students: Lau Cam Tu, Phan Xuan Dung, Nguyen Huynh Thu; under the guidance of Mr. Pham Thi Ha Thuong;
3. The Project won the Consolation Prize by group of students: Doan Nguyen Ha Giang, Ngo Nhat Hung, Vo Hoang Anh under the guidance of MSc. Ha The Linh
The most exciting part was the Q&A session between the participating students and the research groups.
Congratulating and recognizing the contributions and achievements in scientific research, the FSSH's Board of Directors awarded certificates of merit and medals and cash gifts from Dr. Tang Huu Tan, Director of SDTC Center, and lecturers of FSSH, for research groups of students with high achievements.
In order to recognize the research results of the groups of students, the Dean of the Faculty also decided to award the certificate of successful acceptance to 4 research student groups.
The FSSH's Board of Directors awarded medals instead of gratitude to the lecturers who participated in the Review, assessment, evaluation Councils, and the instructors who guided the student research groups in the past years.
The second session of the conference was the Seminar with the theme: "From theory to practice" by Dr. Dang Thi Kim Phung, GIST Research Team Leader, is in charge of the executive role together with the speakers who are alumni and won high-achieving in scientific research:
1. Alumni Nguyen Le Phuc - representative of the Department of Sociology;
2. Alumni Doan Hong Son - representative the Department of Social Work;
3. Alumni Lam Thi Huyen Tran - representative of the Department of Tourism.
Dr. Dang Thi Kim Phung and other speakers shared about issues such as where to find research ideas; qualities required for scientific research; skills in searching and selecting document sources; difficulties encountered when doing research research, etc.
After the discussion, MSc. Hoang Thi Van has deployed and launched student research activities in the 2022 – 2023 AY.
This conference has fueled the fire of enthusiasm, passion for scientific research and above all, it is hoped that the cherished research ideas and creative ideas can ignite in the future.
