Academic Exchange Seminar: “Media and Social Activism Education”

On May 13, 2025, the first session of the seminar series titled “Media and Social Activism Education” took place in meeting room B010. The session featured an inspiring presentation by Dr. Ken Fero, a sociologist and renowned documentary filmmaker from the United Kingdom (UK). Dr. Fero is currently affiliated with Coventry University (UK) and is widely recognized for his award-winning documentaries such as Injustice (2001) and Ultraviolence (2020), among others.

The seminar was attended by lecturers and students from the Faculty, as well as international scholars with a shared interest in the topic. Participants had the rare opportunity to view exclusive excerpts from Dr. Fero’s upcoming documentary, which explores themes of community self-defense and resistance abroad.

A highlight of the seminar was the screening of three short films produced by third-year Sociology students. These creative and thought-provoking works addressed issues relevant to today’s youth, including pursuing musical passions, building personal identity, and overcoming life pressures to achieve positive values. The event provided a valuable platform for Sociology students to engage with global perspectives on mass communication through a sociological lens. The lively discussions and critiques throughout the session fostered meaningful academic dialogue between students and international experts.

Stay tuned for the upcoming sessions in this exciting series!
