Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Establishes the Society, Culture and Development Research Group
On June 17, 2026, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) officially issued a decision to establish the Society, Culture and Development Research Group (SCD) under the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH).
The establishment of the research group is a concrete initiative to implement the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, as well as Conclusion No. 91-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing the fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of scientific research, foster innovation, develop high-quality human resources, and strengthen international academic integration.
The SCD is led by Dr. Nguyen Minh Huan as Head of the Group. Its key members include Dr. John Hutnyk and Dr. Duong Thi Minh Phuong. Other members of the group are Dr. Pham Thi Ha Thuong, Dr. Le Thi Mai, Dr. Thai Huynh Phuong Lan, Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Dao, Dr. Pham Thai Son, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hang Phuong, Head of the Research Group on Applied Psychology, Education, and Social Work, The University of Danang, University of Science and Education.
With the participation of scholars possessing diverse expertise across the social sciences and humanities, the SCD is expected to become a dynamic academic environment that promotes research activities and scientific collaboration at both national and international levels. The group is expected to contribute to enhancing the quality of education and research within the FSSH in particular and TDTU as a whole.
In the coming years, the group will focus on conducting interdisciplinary research on society, culture, and development while strengthening collaboration with scholars and educational institutions both domestically and internationally. In addition to promoting publications in reputable academic journals, the group also aims to contribute scientific evidence and practical solutions to support sustainable socio-economic development.
The establishment of the SCD marks a significant milestone in the scientific research development strategy of the FSSH. Through the development of strong research groups, the Faculty seeks to enhance research capacity, foster innovation, strengthen digital transformation in academic activities, and effectively contribute to the achievement of TDTU’s development goals, while making meaningful contributions to the advancement of social sciences and humanities in Vietnam in the context of international integration.
