The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, University Malaysia Sarawak visits The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ton Duc Thang University

On the afternoon of January 16, 2025, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) warmly welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) for discussions regarding their Social Work training programs.

Representing the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, TDTU, the meeting was attended by Dr. Pham Thi Ha Thuong, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Nguyen Minh Huan, Dean’s Assistant; and MSW. Nguyen Thi Phuong Linh, in charge of the Social Work Department. From the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UNIMAS, Dr. Athirah Azhar, Coordinator of the Social Work Training Program, joined the delegation along with faculty members and students specializing in Social Work.

The meeting began with an overview presentation by Dr. Pham Thi Ha Thuong, highlighting TDTU’s background, the development of Social Work in Vietnam, and the university’s Social Work training program. Dr. Athirah Azhar followed with a presentation on the unique geographical and cultural characteristics of Sarawak, as well as the Social Work training program at UNIMAS.

The two sides engaged in a productive discussion, exploring similarities and differences between their respective training programs. This dialogue fostered mutual understanding and laid the foundation for future collaboration. Key areas of discussion included student exchange opportunities in field education, international research and publication partnerships, and joint support for Social Work project implementation.

A highlight of the meeting was the exchange of ideas on the “Way Forward,” focusing on potential development and cooperation between the two faculties.

Concluding the visit, the delegation toured the TDTU campus, including stops at the Inspire Library, the Sports Complex, and the Vietnam-Finland International School campus.

The meeting was deemed a resounding success, marked by open dialogue and a shared commitment to deeper collaboration in training, research, and enhancing the consulting skills of Social Work students. Both faculties expressed enthusiasm for continuing to build a strong partnership in the future.
