The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Welcomes Delegates from the University of San Carlos, the Philippines

On the afternoon of September 30, 2025, at Room B010, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH), Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), warmly welcomed and held a working session with the Department of Anthropology, Sociology and History, University of San Carlos (USC), the Philippines.

Representing the FSSH were Dr. Pham Thi Ha Thuong – Dean; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang – Vice Dean; Dr. Nguyen Minh Huan – Dean’s Assistant; Dr. Le Thi Mai – Head of the Sociology Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Xuan Binh – Senior Lecturer of Sociology; Dr. Dang Thi Kim Phung – Head of Global Inquiries and Social Theory Research Group; Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Dao – Vice Head of the Tourism Department; Dr. Pham Thai Son – Vice Head of the Department of Tourism at the Khanh Hoa Branch; and Dr. John Hutnyk – Research Lecturer in Sociology.

From the USC, the delegation included Fr. Jesuraj Anthoniappen, SVD, PhD – Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Leny G. Ocasiones – Chair of the Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and History. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged ideas on potential collaboration in academic training, scientific research, international publication, and scholarly activities. The discussion focused on developing student exchange programs, interdisciplinary research projects, and faculty engagement through academic workshops and conferences, particularly the upcoming ISSH 2026 Conference, scheduled for June 2026 at TDTU.

The FSSH reaffirmed its strong commitment to expanding international cooperation as part of its strategic direction to enhance the quality of education, research, and global academic integration. The USC also expressed a shared desire to develop meaningful, long-term, and mutually beneficial programs that align with both institutions’ academic and developmental goals.

The meeting laid a solid foundation for sustainable collaboration between the two institutions, opening new opportunities for academic exchange, advancing training and research quality, and further strengthening the international reputation of the FSSH, TDTU.
