The Fourth Student Science Research Conference 2023 and exhibitions of typical student scientific research works

In order to launch and implement student scientific research activities throughout the faculty while promoting the dynamism, creativity, and independent scientific research ability of students and forming self-study capacity, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH) has organized the Fourth Student Science Research Conference 2023 at Hall 2A on the morning of September 30, 2023. The conference was attended by representatives of functional units of Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), guests, lecturers, officials of the FSSH, and more than 500 students.

At the beginning of the conference, M.A. Pham Thi Ha Thuong, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, took the stage to deliver the opening speech of the conference. Then, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, Vice Dean of the FSSH, gave a summary report on the results of student scientific research (SSR) for the academic year 2022-2023. In order to deeply thank the functional units of the TDTU for accompanying, supporting, and contributing to the overall success of the FSSH's research and science activities, M.A. Pham Thi Ha Thuong, Acting Dean of the Faculty, presented flowers of thanks to M.A. Dang Thi Kim Anh, Head of Student Affairs Department, and M.A. Le Thi Kim Chi, Representative of the TDTU’s Science and Technology Development Management Department.

On the occasion of this conference, the FSSH also sent congratulations to the SSR teams for the academic year 2022-2023 for their efforts and successes. The FSSH presented letters of merit and medals to four high-achieving research groups and certificates to six research groups for actively participating in scientific activities. At the same time, FSSH also awarded medals in lieu of gratitude to teachers who guided research groups in the past academic year.

Thus, the 2022–2023 school year has ended with many proud achievements. Following that success, in order to prepare well for the academic year 2023-2024, M.A. Hoang Thi Van, Head of FSSH’s student scientific research (SSR), has also implemented FSSH-level scientific research activities for the academic year 2023-2024 for all students attending this conference.

The conference had a report and scientific conversation with the audience of two research groups with high achievements in the school year 2022-2023, specifically:

(1) The research team won the First Prize in Science at the FSSH in the academic year 2022-2023, including students Bui Van Hoai Nam, To Tran Thanh Truc, and Nguyen Vu Thao Ngan.

(2) The research team won the Second Prize of FSSH in the academic year 2022-2023, including students Tran Hai Uyen, Pham Quang Tuyen, and Lau Cam Tu.

In addition, in order to support students who are passionate about research and give them the key to unlocking innovative ideas, the second session of the conference, "Student Science Research: Current Reality and Future Trends," was conducted with the following guests:

(1) Dr. Pham Thanh Hai, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, University of Labour-Social Affairs, Campus 2, HCMC;

(2) M.A. Nguyen Thi Minh Chau, Deputy Director in Charge of the Center for Environment Research and Development, Southern Institute of Social Sciences;

(3) Dr. Nguyen Phuc Hung, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism-Restaurant-Hotel, Hung Vuong University, Ho Chi Minh City;

(4) Dr. Dang Thi Kim Phung, Head of the Global Social Issues and Theory Research Group (GIST) of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, as the moderator of the seminar.

The seminar had useful exchanges and sharing for students who have been and plan to implement SSR in the new academic year. At the end of the program, M.A. Pham Thi Ha Thuong, acting dean of the FSSH, took to the stage to hand over letters of thanks and flowers to the guests.

Moreover, at this conference, attendees also saw the exhibition of typical scientific works with high achievements over the years in the ground hall of Building B, TDTU. Thereby, students will form research ideas suitable to their majors and develop those ideas into a research topic under the guidance of the instructor. These works will be on display here through October 3, 2023./.
