Seminar “Decolonization of knowledge and research in Libraries, in terms of the colonial past of British ‘world’ institutions”

On February 27, 2024, at the Meeting Room on the 5th Floor of the Library - Ton Duc Thang University, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (F.SSH) organized a seminar on the topic “Decolonization of knowledge and research in Libraries, in terms of the colonial past of British ‘world’ institutions”. This insightful seminar was presented by the esteemed Dr. Michelangelo Paganopoulos, a researcher at the Global Inquiries and Social Theory Research Group (GIST).

Dr. Michelangelo Paganopoulos is an anthropologist who taught at the University of London and is a member of the Association of Social Anthropologists of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth (ASA).

The seminar, a significant event in our academic calendar, was chaired by Dr. Dang Thi Kim Phung - Head of GlST and PhD. John Hutnyk - Research Lecturer. This engaging seminar, which drew a large number of lecturers and faculty students, focused on the term “Decolonization” and its relevance to issues in former colonial countries such as Vietnam.
