Seminar “Reflections on Organized Networks and Collective Research Methods”

On the afternoon of January 23, 2024, the Sociology Department, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities organized a seminar on the topic "Reflections on Organized Networks and Collective Research Methods" was presented by Professor Ned Rossiter at the meeting room on the 5th Floor of the Library, Ton Duc Thang University. Ned Rossiter is a media theorist noted for his research on network cultures, the politics of cultural labour, logistical media, and data politics. Rossiter is Professor of Communication and Director of Research at the Institute for Culture and Society, Western Sydney University where he holds a joint appointment in the School of Humanities and Communication Arts.

The content of the seminar focused on an overview of collective research methods and organized networks, conducted in Beijing in 2007-2008. The aim is to curate empirical methods for different research questions about urban conditions, migration politics and service labor, artistic practices, media infrastructure, etc.

Chairing the discussion was PhD. Le Thi Mai - Head of Sociology Department, PhD. John Hutnyk - Research lecturer. The seminar attracted the participation of many domestic and international experts and lecturers at universities. The seminar also provided an opportunity to learn research experience from leading professors in the field for students majoring in Sociology.

Academic seminars are one of the activities regularly organized by the Sociology Department, creating opportunities for lecturers and students to access the knowledge, skills and experience in research.
