Seminar on Solutions to promote active learning in political theory courses at Ton Duc Thang University

On the afternoon of December 24, 2024, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Ton Duc Thang University successfully held a seminar titled “Solutions to Promote Active Learning in Political Theory Courses at Ton Duc Thang University.”

The event, chaired by Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Huyen, Head of the Political Theory Department, welcomed nearly 30 participants, including full-time and visiting lecturers specializing in Political Theory. The seminar served as a platform for sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and proposing effective strategies to enhance students' active engagement in Political Theory courses.

Key Highlights of the Seminar

The discussions centered on innovative active learning methods such as group discussions, video-based lectures, and the integration of technology through E-learning platforms and other digital tools. These methods aim to foster student engagement and stimulate interest in the subject.

A significant focus was placed on the role of lecturers in inspiring students to independently explore knowledge. Strategies such as awarding bonus points for answering complex or applied questions were suggested as incentives to motivate students. The seminar also emphasized the importance of creating an open and interactive learning environment to encourage active participation. This approach includes the use of practical scenarios to reinforce key concepts and make lessons more relatable.

To ensure a solid foundation for active learning, lecturers were encouraged to provide comprehensive course information, study materials, and access to digital libraries from the very first session. These resources aim to enhance students' ability to self-study and deepen their understanding of Political Theory.

The proposed solutions are designed not only to elevate the quality of teaching and learning but also to nurture students' proactiveness and creativity throughout their academic journey.
