TDTU participates in The Southern Sociology day event 2023

On December 23, 2023, more than 50 lecturers and students of the Sociology Department, Ton Duc Thang University participated in Southern Sociology Day 2023 held at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University.

The event attracted the involvement of many units: Vietnam Sociological Association, Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Van Hien University, Can Tho University, Da Lat University, Binh Duong University, Trade Union University, Center for Sociology - Southern Institute of Social Sciences, Institute of Sociology - Sociology Magazine, Center for Population and Development Studies.

Many activities took place during the festival, with experts, lecturers, researchers and students of sociology engaged with the seminar theme of “Digital Society and Sociology”. There were academic reports from leading, reputable experts such as Prof. Bui The Cuong (Head of the Southern Working Committee of the Vietnam Sociological Association), Ph.D. Le Thi Mai (Ton Duc Thang University), Prof. Hoang Thi Nga (Trade Union University), MA. Le Minh Tien (Ho Chi Minh City Open University), and Prof. Nguyen Duc Chien (Institute of Sociology).

Other activities also took place during the festival such as displaying images, cultural exchanges, and presentations. Especially for this Southern Sociology Day, 2023, the students of the Sociology Department, Ton Duc Thang University, gave handmade gifts to students of other units, and exchanged entertainment with the other participants, also introducing three sociology student scientific research projects.

Southern Sociology Day is an annual activity alternately organised by the Vietnam Sociology Association, Sociology research and training units in the Southern and Central Highlands regions. This is an opportunity for participating units to introduce and promote the image of the Sociology field, and an opportunity for students and young researchers to learn more deeply about the field.
