Workshop on Data Analysis to Support Student Scientific Research, Academic Year 2024–2025
In an effort to enhance research capacity and standardize data analysis skills among students engaged in scientific research, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH) organized two intensive workshops on quantitative and qualitative data analysis in April 2025. These workshops are part of a broader series of academic support activities for student research groups undertaking scientific research projects in the academic year 2024–2025.
The quantitative data analysis workshop was held in the afternoon of April 11, 2025, at Meeting Room B010 and facilitated by Dr. Nguyen Minh Huan, Assistant Dean of the FSSH. The session focused on essential processes in quantitative data handling, including variable coding systems, data cleaning procedures, selection of appropriate analytical software, and the presentation of results through tables, charts, and statistical models. Students actively engaged in discussions about real-world challenges in data processing, such as selecting independent/dependent variables, hypothesis testing, and interpreting analytical outcomes. All questions were thoroughly addressed by Dr. Huan, providing valuable clarification on common challenges in quantitative research.

The qualitative data analysis workshop took place online via Google Meet on the afternoon of April 19, 2025, led by Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, Vice Dean of the FSSH. The session covered techniques for collecting and analyzing qualitative data, including determining appropriate sample sizes, conducting in-depth interviews, identifying exclusion criteria during transcription, and principles of field observation. Key principles for presenting qualitative research findings were also highlighted, helping students improve their ability to translate field data into scholarly arguments.

Through these two workshops, students not only strengthened their knowledge of scientific research methods but also gained guidance on approaching data in a systematic, logical manner that aligns with academic standards in the social sciences. These sessions serve as an important foundation for student research groups to improve the quality of their projects and ensure both scientific rigor and practical relevance in their research outcomes for the academic year 2024–2025.
