Admissions for Master Degree of Sociology - Stage 1 in 2019

1. Specialization of training: SOCIOLOGY (Major code 8310301)

2. Enrollment time: There are 02 examinations in 2019

- Stage 1: expected on 01, 02/6/2019

- Stage 2: expected on 07, 08/12/2019

3. Form of enrollment: recruitment and examination

4. Graduation certificate: divided into 03 subjects:

4.1. Subjects 1: Graduated from a university in the right field or an appropriate branch of Sociology, including: Sociology; Sustainable Development; Anthropological; Human Development; Ethnographic; Human rights

Candidates with a diploma in the above fields are registered for admission.

4.2. Subject 2: Graduated from university in the discipline of Sociology, including: Social work; International relationship; Education; Economics; Psychology; Political Economy; Geography; Economic development; International Studies; International economy; Asian study; Business statistics; Orientalism; Economical maths; Chinese learn; Economic management; Japan study; Politics; Southeast Asia learns; Ho Chi Minh studies; Vietnamese studies; Building the Party and State Government.

Candidates with a diploma in the above-mentioned disciplines are registered for admission, if they are admitted, they must learn the following knowledge:

- Subject: General sociology

- Subject: Contemporary sociological theory

- Subject: Research method of sociology

4.3. Subject 3: Graduated from university not belonging to object 1 and object 2, must have at least 2 years of working experience in agencies with functions to solve social problems registered to attend recruitment and certification of a working agency is required (according to the attached form), if successful, the following knowledge must be learned:

- Subject: General sociology

- Subject: Sociology theory

- Subject: Specialized informatics

- Subject: Quantitative research method

- Subject: Qualitative research method

- Subject: Qualitative data processing

5. Requirements for foreign language proficiency (English) when registering for admission:

5.1. Subjects exempted from language proficiency test:

- Having a bachelor, master or doctoral degree issued by a foreign higher education institution (the main language used in the learning process must be English) and educational institutions (or diplomas of educational institution is in the list of educational institutions and university diplomas recognized by the competent authorities of Vietnam; or in the list of higher education institutions that have a Protocol or a nationally recognized document form between their country and Vietnam; or a higher education institution in the TOP 1,000 world according to THE, QS; or a diploma from a joint training program that has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam;

- Have a bachelor, master or doctoral degree in the country where the language used in the training is entirely in English without translation;

- Having a university diploma in English language majors;

- Candidates who have an English certificate equivalent to level 3/6 foreign language competency framework used for Vietnam by the foreign language training institution approved by MoET (B1 level); or have international English certificates: IELTS 4.5, TOEFL iBT 45, TOEIC 500, PET 140 and duration of 02 years from the date of certification to the date of application.

5.2. Subjects not in section 5.1: Must take an English entrance exam held by Ton Duc Thang University during the corresponding enrollment period.

6. Admissions information for Stage 1, June 2019

6.1. Release and receive application documents:

Issuing and receiving application dossiers: deadline of May 3, 2019;

Admission fee: 450,000VND ;

Examination fee: 750,000VND (applicable to foreign language exams).

6.2. Training time:

Total duration: 18 - 24 months (12-18 months of modules and 06 months of thesis);

Expected training time: From July 2019 - July 2021;

Scheduled: Every evening in the week or on Saturday and Sunday.

6.3. Organization of exam preparation classes:

Registration for examination: from the date of the notice to the end of March 29, 2019

Opening ceremony (tentative): April 5, 2019

Class schedule: Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday

6.4. Training location:

In Ho Chi Minh City (Facility in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City),

In the provinces (If sufficient number of classes open).
